End of the Line

Grand Prismatic

While walking along a path to one of the many waterfalls in Yellowstone National Park we came across this eerie scene. All that remained of a one mighty elk was a jaw bone and a couple of vertebrae. Did it meet its end in a blustery winter storm? Was it taken down by a grizzly bear or pack of wolves? Maybe it was just old age. No matter what happened, it reminded us of the fragility of life.
