There is nothing more prescious than a mother and her baby. This mother bison is cleaning her newborn calf. She will protect him from the dangers around them with a ferocity unexpected from such a seemingly gentle beast. She will make sure her species will continue on. Once roaming the grasslands across the United States, the American bison nearly became extinct due to overhunting and bovine diseases in the 1800s. With a lot of assistance, a great resurgence of them has taken place but will never restore their once plentiful numbers.
