Living a life full of mystery, cicadas' life cycles are a true wonder of nature. This cicada emerged from the ground as a nymph in a 17 year ritual cycle that brings them out of the ground to produce the next generation. While almost all of them are are marked up in a traditional military green, brown and black camouflage, this one stood out from the rest. Being the only albino cicada I had ever seen, it would have a harder life above ground than most. With no camo to hide it among the trees and leaves, its protective cover has been blown.
